Who can learn Tae Kwon Do? Everyone, young or old, male or female can learn Tae Kwon Do. It is a great activity for the whole family!??How old does a child have to be to take Tae Kwon Do? Three years old. We have a class specifically designed for 3-5 year olds called Lil' Ninjas.??Will Tae Kwon Do make my child aggressive? No. Usually it has just the opposite effect on students. Students of Tae Kwon do tend to develop good self-control and respect for authority. Students learn when it is okay to use TKD and when it is not. In addition, the rigorous exercise usually helps to burn excess energy that children tend to have.??Does Tae Kwon Do help children with anything besides burning energy? Absolutely. Studies have shown that students who practice Tae Kwon do regularly improve school grades, as well as helping students with ADD and ADHD. TKD students usually tend to listen better at home, tend to respect authority more and overall are more social, well-behaved children.??Should I be in good shape before taking classes? Tae Kwon do is a way of achieving physical fitness. If a student is not in good shape when he starts, he should work at a pace that is comfortable until he can keep up with the Instructor's pace.??Is Tae Kwon Do for men only? Absolutely not! Many women find that Tae Kwon do is a great source of exercise as well as a great way to learn how to defend themselves against larger opponents. TKD does not build bulky muscles, but rather it stretches and tones muscles, so it is the perfect exercise for men and women.
